12 Days of Romance, Food & Iconic Views
If you’re planning a honeymoon and can’t decide between Italy or France… honestly, you don’t have to choose. ✨
One of my favorite things about this itinerary is that it combines a little bit of everything — coastal relaxation, iconic cities, amazing food, romantic experiences, and enough flexibility to actually enjoy the trip without feeling rushed.
This sample honeymoon itinerary takes you through:
- Sorrento & the Amalfi Coast
- Rome
- Venice
- Paris
The overall flow keeps the trip exciting while still giving you time to slow down, wander, and enjoy each destination together.

Sorrento & The Amalfi Coast
Starting the honeymoon along the Amalfi Coast sets the tone perfectly. Sorrento works really well as a home base because it’s scenic, walkable, and makes exploring places like Positano, Capri, and Ravello much easier.
Some highlights from this part of the trip:
- Sunset aperitivos overlooking the water
- Boat days along the Amalfi Coast
- Exploring Positano
- Capri day trips
- Lemon farm cooking classes
- Beach clubs and spa days
- Long seaside dinners
One of my favorite parts of this itinerary is that there are built-in flexible days. Some couples want adventure and sightseeing nonstop, while others want slower mornings and relaxed lunches by the coast. This itinerary leaves room for both.

Rome
After the coast, the trip shifts into the energy and history of Rome. This part of the honeymoon blends iconic landmarks with slower experiences like rooftop aperitivos, wine bars, food tours, and wandering through neighborhoods like Trastevere.
Some Rome highlights include:
- The Colosseum & Roman Forum
- Vatican City & St. Peter’s Basilica
- Trevi Fountain at night
- Rooftop cocktails overlooking the city
- Pasta in Trastevere
- Cooking classes and food tours
One of the biggest mistakes people make in Rome is trying to overpack every day. I always recommend leaving space for spontaneous exploring because some of the best moments happen while simply wandering the city.

Venice
Venice feels completely different from anywhere else in Europe, which makes it such a fun honeymoon stop. The best way to experience Venice honestly isn’t with a packed itinerary — it’s wandering the canals, getting a little lost, stopping for aperitivo, and soaking in the atmosphere.
This portion includes:
- Gondola rides
- Canal-side aperitivos
- Hidden neighborhood walks
- Early morning exploring before crowds
- Burano or Murano island day trips
- Waterfront dinners
Burano is especially fun for couples who love photography and colorful scenery, while Murano is perfect for slower exploring and glassmaking experiences.

Paris
Ending the honeymoon in Paris feels like the perfect finale. After the energy of Italy, Paris naturally slows the pace a little and creates space for long dinners, café hopping, river walks, and relaxed exploring.
Some Paris highlights:
- Eiffel Tower views
- Seine River cruises
- Montmartre exploring
- Boutique shopping
- Pastry and food tours
- Café culture
- Evening walks along the Seine
One thing I love about Paris is that some of the best experiences are the simplest ones — sitting at a café, wandering side streets, or watching the Eiffel Tower light up at night.

Why This Honeymoon Flow Works So Well
This itinerary balances:
✔️ Relaxation
✔️ Iconic sightseeing
✔️ Food & wine experiences
✔️ Romantic experiences
✔️ Adventure
✔️ Flexible downtime
without feeling overly rushed.
A lot of Europe itineraries try to squeeze in too many cities too quickly. This one intentionally gives couples enough time to actually enjoy each destination.
